Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - Friday, February 21st 2014 [ME NewsWire]
The Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police recently organized community-based traffic programs at the Abu Dhabi Center for Care and Rehabilitation for People with Special Needs and the Family Development Foundation (FDF) in Al Ain. The programs fall in line with the traffic awareness plan and social communication methodology which aim to promote community participation and increase traffic awareness and education, as well as to safeguard lives and property and improve traffic safety in Abu Dhabi.
Lt. Colonel Jamal Salem Al Ameri, Chief of Public Relations Section at the Traffic and Patrols Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police, stressed the Abu Dhabi Police’s commitment to promote community cohesion and to spread the traffic education; out of the firm belief in the role of government agencies, private sector institutions, and civil society institutions as strategic partners to participate actively in the area of traffic awareness.
He added: "The community-based traffic-related events at the Abu Dhabi Center for Care and Rehabilitation for People with Special Needs are part of ‘The Giving Tree’ program that was organized by the Students Crescent at the center in order to encourage volunteering among students. The program included a traffic exhibition, during which publications and gifts were distributed to students and their families”.
On the other hand, First Lieutenant Nasser Khalifa Al Shamesi, Acting Public Relations Branch Manager at the Al Ain Traffic Section, noted that as part of the community-based events in Al Ain, a traffic awareness lecture was organized for students of Khaled bin Al Waleed Primary School. The lecture, held in coordination with the Family Development Foundation in Al Ain and the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), falls in line with the "Beware of Motorbike Dangers” campaign that was recently launched by the Ministry of Interior.
First Lieutenant Al Shamesi indicated that the lecture provided a detailed explanation on the security and safety measures used in motorbikes and quad bikes, especially the helmet that protects the head from serious injuries, being the most important part of the human body. He added: "The helmet reduces any potential damages that may occur as a result of motorbike accidents;” stressing the need to wear full protective gear, particularly a padded chest protector that protects this part of the body from impacts during accidents.
