HMC and IHI's Quality and Safety Healthcare Conference to Feature Dan Heath and Maureen Bisognano as Top Keynote Speakers
The conference, held to empower patient care improvement for healthcare professionals, will be held at the Qatar National Convention Center in Doha from 25 to 27 April 2014

Doha, Qatar - Monday, February 17th 2014 [ME NewsWire]

This year’s Middle East Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare, scheduled from 25 to 27 April in Doha, Qatar, will feature two internationally recognized and award-winning authors and speakers: Dan Heath and Maureen Bisognano. Both speakers are set to deliver inspirational as well as practical messages that underline this year’s conference theme, which is "Empowering Patient Care Improvement.”

Dan Heath, the co-author of New York Times bestsellers ‘Made to Stick’ and ‘Switch’, will set the tone on the first day of this year's conference with his message of effective decision-making across the range of situations that everyone encounters in their day-to-day work and lives. Delegates will benefit from Dan's insights, learning how to better evaluate challenges and move decisively to identify the best solutions.

Dan is currently a Senior Fellow at Duke University’s CASE Center, which supports entrepreneurs who are fighting for social good. Dan is a columnist for Fast Company magazine, and he has taught and consulted with organizations such as Microsoft, Philips, Vanguard, Macy’s, USAID, and the American Heart Association.

Maureen Bisognano, President and CEO of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), will, in her opening ceremony keynote on Saturday 26 April 2014, be talking about "flipping’ healthcare.” Instead of medicine’s traditional focus on a patient’s disease or illness, often elicited by asking the question "What’s the matter?” Ms Bisognano will explain the importance of focusing as much on the person and his or her individual needs and lead with the more encompassing: "What matters to you?”

Ms Bisognano is a prominent authority on improving health care systems whose expertise has been recognized by her elected membership to the Institute of Medicine and by her appointment to The Commonwealth Fund's Commission on a High Performance Health System, among other distinctions. Ms. Bisognano advises health care leaders around the world, is a frequent speaker at major health care conferences on quality improvement, and is a tireless advocate for change.

The Middle East Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare is the result of the continued collaboration between Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), the principal public healthcare provider for the State of Qatar, and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), a leading innovator in health and health care improvement worldwide.

The Middle East Forum provides a unique platform for people who share a passion for high quality healthcare to promote good health for the communities they serve. Delegates can hear from the world’s foremost experts on quality improvement in healthcare in over 30 workshops, lectures, and keynotes over the course of three days. It is an ideal opportunity for delegates to network with hundreds of other committed healthcare professionals from the region and abroad and to discover inspirational new ways to promote safety in their own organization.

Doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals attending the Middle East Forum are eligible to earn up to 16 continuing healthcare education points. Session and speaker details and online registration can be found at: http://ihime2014.hamad.qa

This year’s conference will feature an international scientific storyboard exhibition and competition. The deadline for storyboard proposals submissions is Friday 28 February 2014.
