The Second Crime Prevention Conference Kicks off on February 17

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - Monday, February 10th 2014

Under the patronage and attendance of H.H Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, represented by the Department of Social Support Centers of Abu Dhabi Police, is organizing the second Crime Prevention Conference, under the slogan "The Family…Prevention and Protection.” The conference will be held from 17 to 19 of February at the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr in Abu Dhabi.

Colonel Mohammed Ahmed Al Hosani, Deputy Director of the Social Support Centers Department, emphasized that the conference embodies Abu Dhabi Police’s strategy that aims to gain the trust of the community, and provide them with exceptional services. "The conference will address three main subjects, namely why the investment in childhood and motherhood is vital for ensuring safety and security in society, adding that he would discuss three key areas, namely how to strengthen investment in maternity and paternity and their importance in the security and safety of society, the importance of family cohesion in the security and safety of society, and how legislation and public policies on human resources of maternity and paternity, can positively affect the safety and stability of future generations,” explained Al Hosani.

He added that the second Crime Prevention Conference will address the role of investment in early childhood and motherhood and ensuring safety and security in society. The conference will feature well-known speakers that are experts in early childhood development, families, interventions, and public policy.

Colonel Al Hosani also reiterated Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters’ unwavering goal of encouraging community partners to adopt optimal policies and strategies for the prevention of crime. "It also strives to provide high quality services for citizens, residents and visitors alike,” noted Al Hosani.

On the same note, Al Hosani said that the conference intends to highlight the importance of motherhood in the early stages of a child’s life, and its significant impact on their personality and behavior in the future. "It helps to reduce the chances of him committing crimes, or being a victim of a crime,” pointed out Al Hosani. Furthermore, he noted that the conference will also shed light on the role and duties of the parents in providing care and protecting children, and the role of institutions and individuals in providing support and encouragement for working mothers. It will also educate the partners and community about the importance of investing in early childhood and crime prevention.

"The conference program will include presentations and discussions on international models and examples of best practices in childcare and supporting working mothers, and developing mechanisms to ensure a better life for families,” Al Hosani pointed out.

He added that: "The speakers will present papers on the most recent practical and scientific developments in the field of early childhood development, motherhood and family support. Attendees will be exposed to strategies and innovations related to parenting and family interventions aimed at the development and maintenance of safety and security within society. There will be also a number of workshop sessions providing participants with the opportunity to discuss and explore the most important issues facing modern families in a changing world.”
