ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Friday, February 7th 2014 [ME NewsWire]
In collaboration with Saaed Society to Reduce Traffic Accidents, the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police has set up a pavilion at the Freight Conference and Exhibition recently organized by the Abu Dhabi Transport Department.
Lt. Colonel Jamal Salem Al Ameri, Executive Director of the Society, stressed the directorate’s commitment to participate in the various events and exhibitions, so as to achieve traffic safety in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. "The traffic awareness pavilion focused on promoting safety standards and requirements for trucks. Visitors to the Exhibition received awareness brochures on tires’ safety, the need to adhere to authorized cargo loads, avoid overtaking, observe legal speed limits on highways (80 kilometers per hour) for trucks and heavy-duty vehicles, and avoid driving under the influence of fatigue,” said Lt. Colonel Al Ameri.
In conclusion, Lt. Colonel Al Ameri noted that the Saaed Society’s awareness programs during January included two campaigns: "Beware of Motorbike Dangers” and "Beware of Failing to Give Priority to Pedestrians”. The campaigns featured lectures, traffic exhibitions, a ‘Traffic Village’, and students’ field visits to the directorate.
