Michael Shadman ‘Optimistic’ About Future of U.S.-Iran Relations
SAN JOSE, Calif. & CHICAGO, Ill - Saturday, February 8th 2014 [ME NewsWire]
(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The American Iranian Council (AIC) has named Michael Shadman, Senior Director of the U.S. Immigration Investment Center (USIIC), to its board of directors.
Mr. Shadman is also the principal of Shad Engineers, Inc. His expertise in and passion for renewable energy and green building technology will aid the AIC’s mission to normalize U.S.-Iran relations.
"Over the last 30 years, I have never been this optimistic about US-Iran relations,” said Mr. Shadman. "In large part due to the pioneering and sustained efforts of the AIC over 25 years, a serious window of opportunity has finally opened, and I am honored to serve the Council as it continues its hard work to normalize US-Iran relations.”
Mr. Shadman’s political accomplishments rival those of his business successes. He served on the National Democratic Party Finance Committee for the 2012 Obama campaign. He also served on the election committee for Hooshang Amirahmadi’s 2013 campaign for the Iranian presidency.
Professor Amirahmadi is also the founder and president of AIC. "Michael has consistently been among the most enthusiastic and supportive Iranian-Americans in the efforts to improve US-Iran relations. The Council is fortunate to have them on its side at this critical time,” he said.
Mr. Shadman is the coordinator of the upcoming AIC-sponsored conference focused on improving economic relations between the U.S. and Iran. The conference will be held at the Washington Hilton in the nation’s capital on April 14-15.
The impetus for this conference emerged after the Geneva nuclear agreement that improved prospects for a comprehensive settlement. This may lead to a significant lifting of sanctions and the restoration of economic relations with the West.
