Abu Dhabi Civil Defense Discusses Suggestions to Regulate Relationship with Consulting Offices
At the Second Partners Forum

The General Directorate of Civil Defense in Abu Dhabi organized the second Partners Forum for consulting offices and real estate development companies operating in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

In a speech he gave during the opening ceremony, Colonel Juma Salem Al Dahmani, Acting Director of Abu Dhabi Civil Defense, pointed out the keenness of enhancing relationships with partners and seeking to implement the best international practices for building permits and customer service.

The forum witnessed the discussion of different topics and papers. Engineer Waleed Ramadan from the Environment, Health and Safety Department in Abu Dhabi, presented a paper about decisions and laws of the environment, health and safety management system (EHSMS) in Abu Dhabi, and its regulatory framework. He also tackled the Building and Construction sector’s EHSMS requirements in compliance with the Abu Dhabi EHSMS Regulatory framework.

First Lieutenant Mohamed Al Kathiri from the General Directorate of Civil Defense in Abu Dhabi reviewed the Ministry of Interior’s decision No 505/2012 and the regulations stipulated by the cabinet resolution No 24/2012, on civil defense services in the country. Al Kathiri revealed the major provisions of the laws, in addition to fire prevention and safety requirements, procedures to approve architectural designs and preliminary engineering plans, as well as the most common mistakes made in the designs of architectural plans.

An open workshop took place at the forum, where suggestions related to the relationship between Civil Defense and consulting offices were discussed to guarantee the highest levels and standards of accuracy and excellence.

Lieutenant Colonel Sami Khamis Al Naqbi, Head of Civil Protection and Safety Department, thanked participants for attending the forum, stressing the importance of forums as a method of enhancing communication with partners and facilitating procedures of issuing building permits, in addition to increasing emphasis on the need to enforce preventive measures, to safeguard lives and property.

He called on participants to visit the directorate’s website WWW.ADCD.GOV.AE so that they could present any suggestions or complaints that would serve public benefit through continuous communication with the directorate. In conclusion, he asserted that data and suggestions that were tackled in the workshop will be taken into consideration, examined and implemented if necessary.
