The Police Schools Department ranked first at the Abu Dhabi Police’s Annual Pistol Shooting Championship. The Information Technology Department ranked second, while the Traffic and Patrols Department came in third place at the inaugurating event of the sports activities program for the 2014 sports season.
A total of 80 officers representing 16 departments from the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters participated in the event, which was organized by the Sports Activity Section at the Directorate General of Strategy and Performance Development in Abu Dhabi Police. The championship took place Wednesday morning at the Abu Dhabi Police Officers Club.
Colonel Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General, the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, inaugurated the first championship event for the 2014 sports season, the Police Annual Pistol Shooting Championship for Officers. The ceremony was attended by Colonel Abdul Rahman Al Hammadi, Head of the Forensic Evidence Department; Colonel Waleed Salem Al Shamesi, Head of the Police Schools Department; Colonel Matar Al Kaabi, Chief of the Shooting Section; and Colonel Mohammed Al Hosani, Deputy Director of the Social Support Centers Department, and a number of officers.
Colonel Mohammed bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri emphasized Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters’ commitment to supporting individual and teams sports, including shooting, and emphasized the need to maintain officers’ fitness and readiness. "The achievements realized by the Abu Dhabi Police leadership in terms of shooting competitions are promising,” said Colonel Al Dhaheri. Furthermore, he thanked the departments for their interaction and participation in such competitions that serve the police force, and helps Abu Dhabi Police achieve its strategic goals.
The championship’s high standards embody the advanced standards of tournaments held by Abu Dhabi Police, represented by the Sports Activity Section at the Directorate General of Strategy and Performance Development in Abu Dhabi Police as part of its sports season.
In turn, Captain Jamal Al Saadi, National Teams and Competitions Branch Manager said that this championship is one of 18 championships that will be organized during the season. "The focus is on championships that help improve the police officers’ work and increase their fitness and skills,” concluded Captain Al Saadi.
