The Ministry of Interior will be taking part in the Smart Government Training Program which was launched by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), with a view to enhance national competencies in this area, and prepare highly qualified national cadres to ensure transition to the smart Government stage.
Accordingly, the ministry’s staff members will undergo supervisory skills training by international experts, assigned by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) for this end. This four-day course will be the first in a series of integrated programs in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and other emirates of the state, and will be held at the Hilton Capital Gate Hotel as of February 2nd, 2014.
Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations at the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ said: "We highly appreciate the efforts put forth by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (RTA) with the support of the federal and local government entities to implementing its plans regarding the smart government. This comes in line with the directives of the higher leadership’s national agenda of priorities to achieve the ‘UAE Vision 2021’ and its most important components; particularly attaining a global leading position in the delivery of government services across all available platforms and communication channels, notably mobile phones. "
He referred to the particular importance of this training program to help spreading the smart government culture among government employees and university students.

The one-year program aims to train 2000 employees and university students across the country on the smart Government concepts,” he added.
The Ministry of Interior had hosted a workshop on January 13th, 2014 with a view to explore the comprehensive training project’s prospects and possibilities for cooperation with the authority in this regard. The workshop was attended by a delegation from the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), and led by Engineer Majed Al Mazloum, Smart Government Training and Education Project Manager.
It is worth mentioning that the smart government training program launched by the TRA includes four courses, each one designed for a particular a category of employees concerned with smart government services in the governmental bodies.
The categories include: Information Technology staff members (systems and networks); Programs and Applications Development Staff members; Information Security Staff members; and the Supervisors’ category.
Trainees of the supervisors’ category will attend theoretical and practical presentations related to the drafting and management of the smart government strategy, as well as the means to link this strategy to other strategic initiatives such as the e-government. They will also be adequately briefed on the guidelines and roadmap leading up to the full implementation of the smart government in the UAE.
International experts participating in the course will submit a presentation pertaining to the basic selection factors of the optimal technical solutions to achieve a high level of user experiences such as the type of data, maintaining the balance between technical requirements and user experience, as well as the risks associated with the transfer of smart devices to other countries and data that may be acquired using public key certificates (digital certificates).
