Lt. General H.H Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior paid his respects on Sunday evening to the bereaved Al Raisi family in Al Shaabiya area in Al Ain on the sad demise of their son Omar who died in the line of duty in an ambulance accident.
His Highness Sheikh Saif expressed his profound grief and regret for the loss suffered by the family and colleagues of the deceased in this tragic accident, which claimed the life of the young man that he called "martyr of national and humanitarian duty”. His Highness Sheikh Saif prayed Allah Almighty to have mercy on the deceased’s soul and to grant his family patience and solace.
For his part, Obaid Khamis Al Raisi, father of the deceased, expressed his appreciation for His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed’s visit, which grants solace to the bereaved hearts. He also thanked His Highness Sheikh Saif for catering to the family’s needs and assuming full expenses. Ahmed Obaid, the deceased’s brother, said that his late brother is also the son of the country’s leadership, which cares for its citizens and stands by them through thick and thin.
The deceased, Omar Obaid Al Raisi, had died in the line of duty, when the ambulance he was driving crashed through the roundabout leading to Abu Dhabi University. Omar Al Raisi was transferring a couple of individuals who sustained injuries in a traffic accident that occurred on Saturday evening, when heavy rainfall caused the ambulance to skid, hit the sidewalk and crash. The young man was ejected out of his vehicle on impact and sustained a severe head trauma. He later died on his way to the hospital.
Lt. General H.H Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan was accompanied by Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations at Abu Dhabi Police. A large number of citizens also attended the condolences.
