Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - Monday, January 6th 2014 [ME NewsWire]
In a specialized workshop about the electronic development of the Ministry of Interior’s services and the launch of their next stage, the participants discussed the readiness of the ministry’s sectors to receive and deliver services electronically.
The workshop was organized by the Directorate General of Electronics and Telecommunications Services at the Ministry of Interior. Participants discussed the steps taken in preparation for launching and completing the e-transformation of services. This represents the government's vision of making the UAE one of the first countries in the world to provide government services through smart mobile applications.
Attending the workshop were Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of the Interior for Resources and Support Services; Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations at Abu Dhabi Police; and representatives from the naturalization, residency and ports, traffic and licensing, and civil defense departments.
Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi stressed the importance of collective action and united efforts to overcome all obstacles in order to facilitate the transition to e-services at the Ministry of Interior. He said that certain service procedures might need to be changed if deemed necessary.
"The world is changing and everything around us is changing in one form or another, and we have to keep up with the changes, progress in all areas of service, and optimize use of technical resources in the provision of services to the public wherever they are, in a simple and easy way, through all channels of electronic communication, whether via computers, mobile phones, touch devices, other IVR systems and service centers in accordance with the best international practices,” said Al Raisi.
For their part, Lieutenant Colonel Ibrahim Hamad Al Hinai, Chairman of the Executive Committee and Project Manager, and Lieutenant Mohammed Darwish Al Balouki, Head of the Technical Team of Electronic Services and Smart Applications, reviewed the ministry’s sector assessment report which documented the readiness of each sector for this transition.
Furthermore, they presented a brief summary about the Ministry of Interior’s unified services portal project. They also highlighted the strategic objectives of the portal, its advantages, as well as the customer’s journey and the services that would be available through the portal.
It is worth mentioning that through this portal, the ministry is seeking to provide customer satisfaction by offering an integrated web portal that makes the Ministry of Interior’s services more convenient. It also aims to reduce the pressure on the service centers in different sectors, provide as much information and services to the customer, make transactions as quick as possible, and minimize paperwork and help preserve the environment.
