ADAC equipped to offer United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) largest free public Wi-Fi hotspot covering airport facilities
(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Aruba
Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:ARUN), today announced its collaboration with Abu
Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) to provide the largest free public and
private airport-wide Wi-Fi service in the country for Abu Dhabi
International Airport. In line with ADAC’s plans for growth, the
partnership with Aruba Networks enables ADAC to provide reliable Wi-Fi
access for corporate, business and guest use, including hotspots for
passengers, digital barcode scanning in the cargo buildings, voice
services and multi-tenant services.
The alliance also adds another of the region’s most innovative
companies to Aruba’s growing portfolio of customers across the Middle
East region, demonstrating the company’s strength in providing solutions
that support global trends towards flexible and mobile working.
The project includes the installation of four Aruba M3 Mobility
controllers, more than one thousand Aruba AP-125 and AP-135 dual-radio
access points, outdoor access points for cargo buildings, as well as the
Aruba AirWave Network Management system. The controllers provided
include integrated firewalls to protect the infrastructure and users
alike; as well as wireless intrusion prevention systems (WIPS) to detect
and protect the network against hackers.
Aruba’s AirWave management system provides ADAC’s IT department with
end-to-end clarity and centralized control over the network, monitoring
and managing all users that are connected wirelessly. The solution will
help ADAC to manage the airport’s extensive wireless coverage from a
single point and troubleshoot issues remotely and efficiently.
Hamed Al Hashemi Vice President - Information and Communication Systems
at Abu Dhabi Airports Company, said, "Aruba Networks’ solutions have
enabled Abu Dhabi Airports Company to implement a customized Wi-Fi
solution that addresses all of its requirements. With the company’s
ambitious expansion plans, it was important to ensure that the solution
installed is not only cost effective but is also managed centrally for
efficiency, without compromising on the need for secure and controlled
access. The results provided Abu Dhabi International Airport with the
ability to offer the country’s largest free public Wi-Fi service to all
its passengers and customers.”
Ammar Enaya, General Manager for Middle East at Aruba Networks
mentioned, "Our project with Abu Dhabi Airports Company provided us with
an opportunity to showcase our understanding and expertise to cater to a
large number of users, over a broad expanse of space, without
compromising on the security of the network at any point. The solution
we provided is totally secure, scalable and network controlled,
demonstrating the ease with which our solutions can manage a wireless
network in a sensitive environment.”
Abu Dhabi Airports Company is currently in the process of a
multi-billion dollar plan to re-develop and expand Abu Dhabi
international Airport to ensure that the developments underway in the
Emirate are matched by continued high service standards to accommodate
the predicted rise in air traffic.
