(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Takeda Pharmaceuticals Company Limited (“Takeda”), announced today that Ricardo Marek has been appointed as the President of the Emerging Markets Business Unit (EM BU), based in Singapore, effective April 1, 2017. In his new role he will lead all business operations across five geographic Areas that comprise EM BU – Asia Pacific (excluding Japan), China, Latin America, Middle East & Africa and Russia-CIS. Marek will also serve as a Corporate Officer and member of Takeda’s Executive Team, and report to Christophe Weber, President and Chief Executive Officer of Takeda.
After joining Takeda in 2011, Ricardo became President of Takeda Brazil in 2013. He then took-on additional, concurrent responsibilities, as Area Head of Latin America (LatAm) in 2014. Ricardo will be relocating from his home in São Paulo, Brazil, to Singapore and succeeds Giles Platford who has moved to Zurich as President of Europe and Canada, also effective April 1, 2017.
