MoI and Etisalat Launch E-services ahead of GITEX 2014

To ensure the Security and Safety of the Community

The Ministry of Interior and the Emirates Telecommunications Corporation (Etisalat) announced an array of new e-services scheduled to be launched in the coming few days, prior to GITEX 2014. This step is in pursuance of their commitment to develop police services aimed at boosting community members’ security and safety.

The joint announcement was made following the launch of a bundle of new services for users of the “HEMAYATI” application, which is designed primarily to enhance the safety and protection of children. The application is now available for parents and concerned institutions in the various smartphone application stores; as a result of the cooperation and coordination between both sides.

Major General Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Higher Committee for Child Protection at the Ministry of Interior, noted that the cooperation with Etisalat embodies the vision of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, who described the partnership between the public and private sectors as fruitful and successful, and contributes to the development of police services. Furthermore, it personifies the ongoing efforts of the Ministry of Interior to develop smart interactive services via mobile phones.

Major General Al Nuaimi added, “The launch of a services bundle that support the deployment and use of the “HEMAYATI” application on smart phones across the UAE is the first sign of this joint and valuable collaboration. The application, which can be activated by parents only, also allows them to manage their children’s subscription to relevant data bundles, which ensures the optimal use of smart devices.”

Major General Al Nuaimi reiterated the keenness of the Ministry of Interior to achieve its vision according to the UAE’s National Agenda for the next seven years, via an array of projects and initiatives related to police and security work. “These projects and initiatives would serve the ultimate goal of making the UAE one of the safest countries in the world by achieving a total sense of security and safety, and by reducing response time for emergency calls to just four minutes,” he said.

For his part, Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations at Abu Dhabi Police, noted that the “HEMAYATI” application features secure specifications, due to its privacy policy. It helps to determine the whereabouts of children in case they go missing.

He also underlined that the development and sustainability of smart services are the most effective means to  ensure customer satisfaction and to provide security enablers that would achieve the leadership’ vision intended to maintain national gains. “The UAE is considered one of the world's safest and most secure countries,” he pointed out.

In conclusion, Major General Al Raisi indicated that the police institution’s different sectors work together in order to achieve security and safety for society in general and children in particular. He also pointed to the wide variety of initiatives and projects, whether fully implemented within the police institution, or in collaboration with strategic partners. He also praised the instructions of the police leadership to promote partnership between the police bodies and the private sector, based on continuous keenness to increase efficient cooperation with partners from different governmental and private entities, as one of the government’s most prominent strategic goals.

The Director General of Central Operations at Abu Dhabi Police called upon families and institutions to work diligently and persistently to enhance the security and safety enjoyed by the UAE. He stressed the keenness to utilize the latest and most advanced technology means to achieve the Abu Dhabi 2030 Vision; to make Abu Dhabi Government one of the best five e-governments at the world level (In harmony with the Federal Government 2021 Vision).

Saleh Al Abdooli, Chief Executive Officer of Etisalat said, "We are honored by this strategic partnership with the Ministry of Interior."  He underlined the unwavering commitment of Etisalat to enhance cooperation and integration,  support child protection projects implemented by the Ministry of Interior and boost cyber security and awareness. Al Abdooli announced the upcoming launch of a customized data bundle for HEMAYATI Application users, in line with the institutions' social responsibility approach and its efforts to streamline the use of modern technologies for the good interest of community members and to ensure their security and safety. Adding further, Al Abdooli said, "We will be supporting and marketing future services and technology bundles at Gitex 2014, designed to provide security and safety for all community members. This approach stems out of Etisalat’s firm belief in its valuable societal role in enhancing individual and family security for all social classes," he concluded.

For his part, Jamal Al Nuaimi, General Manager of Etisalat for Abu Dhabi Region, explained that these measures not only complement the launch of the HEMAYATI Application by the Ministry of Interior on Google Play app store for Android compatible smartphones; on Apple Store; BlackBerry App World and Windows Phone Store to promote children safety and protection using the latest smart technologies.  These measures are a the direct result of close  coordination and true partnership with specialized work teams at  the Ministry of Interior, and follow the ministry’s recent success in providing the application on these stores, to cater to the needs of the various smartphone users. . He added, "These services are developed following thorough study to meet the visual requirements and proposals made by the Ministry of Interior's experts, so as to achieve the UAE 20121 Vision, aimed at making the UAE one of the best countries in the world." In conclusion, he praised the diligent joint efforts to develop future service bundles and technologies.

For his part, Lieutenant Colonel Faisal Mohammed Al Shimmari, Head of the Cyber Security Subcommittee at the Ministry of Interior, noted that these initiatives contribute to improve partnerships, and reflect patriotism and a sense of responsibility, which is manifested by the national institutions' support for public projects and services in general, and security services in particular. Lieutenant Colonel Al Shimmari commended the existing partnerships and cooperation with several national institutions, including Masdar Institute and the Emirates Telecommunications Corporation (Etisalat). He praised their vital role in boosting individual and family security, and in promoting the optimal use of technologies.

In conclusion, Lieutenant Colonel Al Shimmari noted that, "Launching this array of services is the result of sustainable development, and embodies the Ministry of Interior's keenness through the various initiatives, to provide the necessary protection for children against all kind of dangers. It is also an invitation from the ministry to all the families in the UAE to use the application available at the Apple Store for the iOS compatible iPhone and iPad, and at Google Play app store for Android compatible smartphones.
