The Western Region Police Prepare for Al Dhafra Camel Festival

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Thursday, December 12th 2013

The Western Region Police announced that it is ready to secure the Al Dhafra Festival for Camel Mazayna, which will kick off on Saturday at Zayed city in the Western Region.

Colonel Ojeil Ali Abdullah Al Junaibi, Director of the Western Region Police Directorate said that the directorate is keen to participating in the event, and is committed to ensure to the success of the festival. "This embodies the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ’s strategy to provide maximum public safety in all activities. It also reflects the directorate’s commitment to deliver the best services to community members in general, the festival goers in particular, and to provide the best police services to visitors and participants,” said Colonel Al Junaibi.

Furthermore, Colonel Al Junaibi highlighted the value of the Festival and its heritage-related importance. He also lauded the unstinting support of the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters to the various purposeful initiatives that aim to serve the community, and enhance confidence in the police services and programs.

The Director of the Western Region Police Directorate stressed the importance of constructive cooperation between visitors, participants, and police officers that will be present at the Festival. "The police will work within the framework of the Festival in order to meet their demands, keep them safe, and help them to access the locations they want to visit,” said Al Junaibi.

Colonel Al Junaibi added that the police force will have a solid presence at the Festival site, especially at the entrances, in order to help the public, meet their requirements, respond to their enquiries or direct them to the people in charge.

Colonel Al Junaibi has urged the public to fully cooperate with the police at the event in order to ensure the success of the festival, and to facilitate public safety and public services.

Moreover, Colonel Al Junaibi called on all participants to coordinate with security entities before moving the camel herds between sites so as to ensure the implementation of safety requirements, to maintain the smooth flow of traffic for pedestrians and vehicles, and to ensure the safety of the herds.

"A reception center will be set up on-site to facilitate coordination with partners in order to timely handle any notifications received from the public,” said Al Junaibi. He also urged everyone to take advantage of the police services that will be available on-site. These include technicians that will provide their services to handle vehicle malfunctions and marketing teams that will tour the site to raise awareness about the services and methods. The community police members that will be present at the festival will familiarize the visitors and participants with the methods of dealing with situations.

Colonel Al Junaibi urged the motorists, especially those who are young, to comply with the traffic laws on-site and avoid crossing to sandy areas in order to ensure the safety of all people involved. "There are large herds of camels permanently moving, putting their lives and the lives of drivers at risk,” explained Al Junaibi.
