A number of officers from the Abu Dhabi Police ICT Department gave lectures pertaining to information and communications technology to Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree graduate students of the New York University- Abu Dhabi. This endeavor, which comes upon an invitation from NYUAD to the ICT Department, aims to enhance new graduates’ skills, expertise and knowledge.
Colonel Mohammed Abdullah Al Zaabi, Deputy Director of ICT Department, reiterated the Abu Dhabi Police’s keenness to bolster cooperation with all scientific bodies and institutions, by taking part in scientific and cultural events and conferences; particularly in the field of information and communications technology. "This effort is in pursuance of the community-based partnership methodology between the police and community members and is part of the community-based programs implemented by the department, aimed mainly at educating community members on the various aspects of information technology and its uses.
In a lecture entitled "The E-government”, Colonel Al Zaabi reviewed the e-government’s objectives, as well as the quality of services provided to the various entities and sectors; such as the government and business sectors, and individuals. He also tackled the benefits of e-government, the stages of its development, and the challenges it faced; indicating that the country’s leadership’s support is an instrumental factor to ensure the e-government’s success.
In his lecture at NYUAD, Colonel Barakat Yaaqoub Al Kindy, Chief of the Systems Development Section at the ICT Department, reviewed the UAE’s experience in the E-ports project, which is currently being implemented across the United Arab Emirates. This pioneering project for identification of individuals using three biometrics, IRIS, Face and Fingerprints aims to facilitate the entry and exit of passengers through the country’s various ports, thus enhancing the State’s prominent position in providing distinguished services to all sectors.
AL Kindy highlighted the benefits of this distinguished project, which combines three biometrics (iris recognition, fingerprints and face recognition) and smart interactive e-gates; noting that the UAE is among the first countries in the world to approve and adopt new technologies.
In his lecture titled "the European Organizational Excellence model (EFQM)”, Captain Mohammed Al Khanbashi, from the ICT Department, reviewed the EFQM criteria and its benefits on all levels of work. This aims to achieve excellence, added value and raise the efficiency in performance, which lead to understanding customers’ needs and expectations.
Concluding, First Lt. Hassan Ali Hammadi, from the Communications Section, delivered a lecture on the TETRA network system applied by the Abu Dhabi Police and dedicated to governmental and security entities. He pointed out that the system operates with advanced technology in the telecommunications field, and offers several advantages to increase the efficiency of daily work.
