Major General Rashid Thani Al Matroushi, Acting Director General of UAE Civil Defense said in a speech made on the occasion of the 42nd National Day:
The 42nd anniversary of the foundation of the Union makes us all commemorate the noble values of the Late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Rashid bin Said Al Maktoum and their brothers Members of the Founding Supreme Council, who all have set the plan of a developed and well-fortified country.
We are proud to mention on this glorious occasion our Higher Leadership’s support and care for the Civil Defense apparatus throughout the stages of development. The Federal resolution for establishing the Civil Defense Directorate in 1976, along with the Federal resolution of 2006, and Federal resolution no. 24 of 2012 have all contributed to enhancing the prevention and safety culture and practices.
The 42nd National Day is an additional incentive to reinforce the established success, expand and promote the exceptional initiatives in service, operational and administrative fields.
Since its establishment 37 years ago, the UAE Civil Defense Directorate has achieved a qualitative advancement in services as part of the sustainable evolution process of the Ministry of Interior services sector. The achieved development came as a result of the support and the follow up of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. This made the different service departments of the Civil Defense Directorate including awareness, prevention, combat and quick response, able to compete with those of the developed countries. The Directorate leadership in applying modern techniques in main and assisting operations which contributed widely to reducing and minimizing accidents, and spreading precaution awareness in the society at large, through national awareness campaigns. The Civil Defense Directorate played an important role in promoting the electronic basic foundation of preventing, protecting and maintaining safety against fires in buildings and establishments.
On this dear occasion, and in my name and on behalf of all directors general, chiefs of departments, commissioned and non-commissioned officers, and the Civil Defense Directorate personnel, I would like to extend warmest congratulations on this dear celebration to our Higher Leadership and the Emirati people. We also ask the almighty God that we always celebrate the UAE events with abundant security and stability granted by God and achieved by the determined Leadership and the ever united proud people.
