Brigadier Fares Khalifa Al Farsi, Director General of Guards and Special Tasks at Abu Dhabi Police, said in a speech made on the occasion of the 42nd National Day:
The 2nd of December is not an ordinary day; it is a historic event acknowledged worldwide, and an occasion celebrated by generations through history. Moreover, this day is a strategic turning point in the history of the region towards a bright present and prosperous future, thanks to the efforts of the founders of this young State. It has reached a prominent pioneer status on the map of the most progressive, prosperous and stable countries in the world thanks to the concerted efforts of its people.
During this march, the founders of this great nation have faced a lot of challenges, namely His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and his Brothers Their Highness Members of the Supreme Council Rulers of the Emirates, who have set the basic bricks of this great edifice, marking in the history a pioneering experience full of challenges, determination and glory.
Building the Union at that difficult time was not only an insightful idea of its time. It was a unique event indicating lot of meanings and lessons, which contributed to turning this historic decision into a role model in the history of the region. It is also a bright experience that lit up all over the world. It also has become a role model for a lot of states seeking to move steadily with strong determination towards progress and prosperity.
The establishment of the Union on this day was not just a means justified by its purposes, nor an objective promoted with will, but a sense of national responsibility requiring collaboration and synergies in order to establish a homeland as big as the ambitions and aspirations, a homeland that moves forward with confidence in a brighter future, and a homeland that arose from the heart of sufferings towards a dawn of prosperity and development. The thanks in this regards are to the will and determination of its people to push the wheel of development forward with knowledge.
The UAE Federation is distinguished by the determination of its leaders to be united in one melting pot with the aim to realize the dreams and aspirations of the people of the UAE. The world at large recognizes that the Union is a rose planted in the heart of the desert under harsh conditions, however it has grown and matured to embrace the sky, and confirm that the leaders of this state are capable of building the future and conquering the impossible with a firm will and unswerving determination.
No wonder that the miracle of the Union’s Day has earned UAE the confidence, appreciation and respect of the world. It strived to obtain many regional and international awards in all fields, thus assuming more responsibility towards the world’s people and states, as well as towards domestic and international issues that require a clear vision and realistic approaches that are able to keep pace with the status and will of the UAE’s government and people.
Today, after 42 years since the establishment of the Union, we have the right to celebrate these great achievements, as well as the progress and prosperity achieved at all levels, thanks to the efforts of the founders of this nation, and their role in pursuing all means that achieve the welfare and stability of the citizens. To this end, they dedicated all financial means and efforts, thus earning the love, respect and appreciation at a time when many people are looking for change; seeking some of the UAE social, economic and political gains, as well as its security, stability and prosperity.
Today we take pride in the progress and civilization our country has achieved, outperforming the most developed civilizations despite the short relative age of the UAE. Our country has proved to the whole world that great achievements are not measured by time, but by the size of the resolve, determination, solidarity and genuine desire to achieve the ambitions and aspirations of peoples who are looking for a better standard of living. The goal was to reach to a country that is recognized internationally on the security, political, economic and social levels.
With regard to infrastructure, education, health and social development, the UAE has made great leaps in this area, earning the satisfaction of citizens and residents, who have found an alternative homeland in the UAE that grants them confidence, security, prosperity, stability, and a decent life similar to the one of other peoples in developed countries. It has also achieved happiness for its citizens according to renowned international organizations.
We should not forget to highlight the role played by the Ministry of Interior since the establishment of the Union in instilling security and stability, in a nation containing different nationalities, cultures, and civilizations, and enjoys harmony and love at the same time. This confirms that the successes achieved in this regard did not come out of thin air, but thanks to the efforts of our higher leadership that strives to make its people sleep secured and assured of the safety regarding their lives and property.
Concluding, I would like to pray to God to protect our country and its wise leadership, guide them in their efforts to modernize our nation; bless their Highnesses the President of the UAE, His Highness the Vice President and Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates; and help them to pursue their efforts to uphold our country.
