Major General Khalil Dawood Badran, Director General of Finance and Services at the Abu Dhabi Police, delivered a speech on the occasion of UAE’s 42nd National Day. Following is the text of the speech:
The 2nd of December 1971 was a glorious day in the journey of achievements, progress and development. It was a grand day that changed the course of history; the day the UAE turned into an oasis of abundance, and prosperity in the various aspects of life. The entire world stands in awe at the countless developments taking place in the UAE, which has become a worthy competitor for distinguished international awards. This allows it to achieve further progress and well-being for its people, according to international-best advanced standards.
This historic occasion brings back memories from the glorious past, of how the late founding father Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, sat together with his brothers with determination to build this great nation.
This blessed march was pursued with the same determination led by HH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Head of State, and his brothers, members of the Supreme Council and rulers of the Emirates to achieve further development, renaissance and prosperity for this generous country.
The historic moment, when the flag of the Union was raised high with honor and glory, will forever remain imprinted in the hearts and minds of our generations. The 2nd of December will remain a living proof in our people’s conscience of an epic story of love and generosity.
The blessing of security witnessed by the country is one of the many achievements that wouldn’t have been possible without the determination of great leaders to show gratitude to the country. For this end, they endeavored to remain a watchful eye, and keep abreast of international developments, to change the traditional perception of police and security work to a more advanced level. They also exerted unwavering efforts to maintain the leading stature attained and preserve the gains through education and knowledge; and to spread the culture of excellence and motivation to achieve innovation and development. This was made possible thanks to the support of HH Sheikh Seif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, who encourages development and excellence according to international standards to enhance security and stability in the country.
Finally, I would like to express my heartfelt congratulations to HH Sheikh Khalifa Ben Zayed Al Nahyan, Head of State; HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai; their brothers, members of the Supreme Council and rulers of the emirates; HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces; and Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; calling upon Allah Almighty to preserve the Union and the blessings of wellness and prosperity in the country of abundance and generosity.
