The initial assessment process for participating teams in the Ministry of Interior’s Award for Smart Applications across academic institutions at the State level recently concluded. The process, which lasted more than three weeks included workshops and meetings with students who submitted their proposals; it was supervised by the Governance and Services Organizing Committee members. Students were given improvement opportunities for their proposals.
Major General Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, in his capacity as Chairman of the Executive Board at the Ministry of Interior, emphasized that this award is part of the efforts to fulfill the directives regarding the smart Government.
During the assessment process, Major Dana Humaid, from the General Directorate of Strategy and Performance Development, the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, indicated that as per the Award’s mechanism, each academic body has assigned a work team per proposal, and appointed a person who will be in charge of registering his team for the award by filling the Award’s registration form.
She also noted that the award supports creativity and innovative individuals and instills the concept of efficient team work between academic institutions and government agencies. Concluding, she pointed out that this phase of evaluation is a prelude to the final evaluation stage.
Interestingly during the assessment process, 14-year-old student Khalifa Al Rumaithi submitted a number of proposals that were highly admired by attendees; although he did not meet the age requirements for submitting proposals. Yet, his determination and perseverance prompted the committee to review his proposals and creative ideas, highly praised by all attendees.
