ADP Participates in the International Conference on Engineering Geophysics

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Sunday, November 17th 2013

The Abu Dhabi Police GHQ is participating as a Diamond Sponsor in the 2nd International Conference on Engineering Geophysics. The conference, which is organized by the Al Ain Municipality and the Emirates University, is held at the Crescent Building at the university from 24th to 27th of November. This sponsorship complements the police’s mission for continuous communication and interaction with all society sectors.

Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations, said: "The Abu Dhabi Police is committed to being a major partner with governmental sectors, institutions, and scientific entities across different activities and events that serve our society. The UAE, as the country of security and safety, and its police is constantly working to provide distinguished services to the public and follow the latest technologies supporting security and safety of society.”

Major General Al Raisi praised the participation of experts and lecturers from around the world, reflecting the importance of topics discussed at the conference, which will help achieve the aspirations of society, especially in scientific fields. "We aim to implement the best scientific and international practices to come up with recommendations that would achieve the aspirations,” he said.

He added: "The Abu Dhabi Police will participate in the second day of the conference on November 25th with a scientific topic discussing the means and applications of criminal geological science and its reflection on how to serve police and security work and help achieve justice.”

Papers at the conference will address different topics including: the application of criminal geology and geophysics in earth research by the police and law enforcement authorities, presented by Dr. Laurence Donnelly, International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS); joint geophysical monitoring to simulate "crime scene” in the United Kingdom (UK Kelley University); search for missing people: multidiscipline analysis; means to best utilize methods and technical geophysical preparation of criminal targets in the backyard (UK Kelley University); modern analysis: precise trace evidence and its applications in criminal studies on dirt, sand and dust (Micro Trees Laboratory – USA), supported by the Ministry of Interior (applied and technical sciences center);  police research society – specialized technology in earth and marine research (Manchester Police); and case study on the application of a mix of British police assets in specialized research (UK Home Office).
