In collaboration with the Middle East Public Sector Institute (MEPSI), affiliated to Price Waterhouse Coopers Company (PWC), the Directorate General of Strategy and Performance Development at the Ministry of Interior launched on Monday the Leadership Development Forum.   The two-day Forum held under the slogan "The Innovation Council for Sustainable Excellence” at the Meydan Hotel in Dubai, targets the senior executive leaderships at the Ministry of Interior.

Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations at Abu Dhabi Police; Major General Abdul Aziz Maktoum Al Shareefi, Director General of Protective Security at the Ministry of Interior; and a number of senior officers from the ministry attended the inauguration ceremony.

Major General Dr. Al Raisi emphasized that the Ministry of Interior’s strategy aims to achieve excellence and success in the performance of its operations to attain the highest standards. "The Ministry of Interior has been proactive in implementing this strategy. It is crucial that it maintains this excellence in performance in order to remain in the foreground”, added Al Raisi.

"The Ministry of Interior plays a significant role in society, in pursuance with its strategic plan, with a view to promote the security and safety of citizens and residents of the State, as per the highest standards and levels,” indicated Dr. Al Raisi.

In his speech on this occasion, Colonel Aziz Hamoud Al Ameri, Head of the Strategy and Performance Development Department at the Ministry of Interior indicated that the Ministry's achievements are a testament to the level of development it has attained as per its strategic plan, commensurate with the Federal Government’s requirements.  This impels senior leaderships at the Ministry to redouble the efforts, to promote and maintain security and stability in the State.

"The strategy pursued by the Ministry of Interior has achieved good results, demonstrated by the significant number of local and international awards the Ministry has obtained. These accolades reflect the level of development the Ministry has reached,” reiterated Colonel Al Ameri.  He stressed that these achievements have been made possible thanks to the directives of the higher leadership, and its tireless ongoing dedication to develop government performance, and the competencies and efficiency of the police apparatus thanks to the outstanding strength and efficiency of its staff members. He added: "The firm belief in the need to work on providing a good and stable work environment and enhancing services provided to the public have also contributed to the success that the Ministry has achieved.”.

"In the past years, the ministry has achieved a leading stature  in terms of excellence at the State level, in pursuance of the police leadership’s directives,” highlighted Colonel Al Ameri, pointing out that achieving a forefront position has not been an easy task;  yet, maintaining progress and excellence is the most difficult part.

"The Ministry has distinguished leaders, capable of developing and implementing strategies and plans with high efficiency and dedication. This allows the ministry to remain in the foreground; this is what sustainability is all about,” continued Al Ameri.

Concluding, he expressed his hopes for success to the Forum, in achieving the government’s aspirations to make the UAE one of the safest and most secure countries in the world. The Forum is attended by a number of leaders from the Ministry, with key experts and speakers, in addition to various specialists from Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC), and distinguished international experts.

For his part, Tareq Wehbe, Public sector and Government consulting expert  from PWC tackled in his speech the topics and objectives of the Forum. He noted that the Forum is a tool for continuous development of the Ministry of Interior’s efforts to achieve sustainable excellence. It also aims to activate the role of strategic leaders and motivate their innovative thinking, as well as to review the latest international practices in this regard, and means to leverage them.

"The senior leadership executives from the Ministry of Interior taking part in the Forum will be acquainted with the key strategic challenges. They will also be engaged through a series of interactive discussion sessions, to develop new perspectives to be directly adopted and applied,” said Wehbe.

He added that several topics will be examined as part of the Forum’s agenda, namely methods of achieving sustainable excellence through innovation; strategic thinking methods to achieve institutional change and transformation; and the developments in technology and knowledge management.
