MOI Reviews the “Khalifa Award for Education” Experience

A delegation from the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Law Respect Culture Bureau and Al Mafraq Juvenile Care Center, headed by Lt. Colonel Dr. Hammoud Al Affari, Deputy Director of the Bureau reviewed the Khalifa Award for Education’s experience and its role in motivating innovators to excel in the educational field.

The delegation was greeted by HE Amal Al Afifi, the Secretary General of the Award, in the presence of Souad Al Suwaidi, the Deputy Secretary General, and Hamid Ibrahim and Dr. Mohamed Issa Qandil, members of the executive committee.  Al Afifi stressed the keenness of the Khalifa Award for Education’s General Secretariat to enhance mutual cooperation between federal and local institutions and departments, to boost the exchange of knowledge and expertise, explore the best practices and promote partnerships to achieve the vision and goals of the federal government.

Lt. Colonel Dr. Hammoud Al Affari said that the visit embodies the Ministry of Interior’s keenness to activate its partnerships with the competent institutions with a view to upgrade the level of individual and social awareness, and encourage all forms of creativity. He also noted that educational departments at the Ministry are constantly seeking to provide quality services to boost the public’s awareness and culture.

He added that the awards encourage competition between individuals and institutions in the service of society and its members in various important areas, notably education, being the main pillar in any society’s progress. He pointed out that the cultural growth process witnessed by the country on all levels requires such awards that create a real balance between the pillars of cultural renaissance; the physical, cultural and intellectual aspects.

HE Amal Al Afifi gave the visiting delegation an overview of the award’s categories, namely; individuals working in the field of education; creating knowledge networks; new media and education; Education and the sustainable environment; Education and community service; in addition to Educational Research; Projects and Innovative Educational Programs; and Educational Authoring for children.  She noted that the award is intended to identify and encompass the various forms of creativity and innovation through encouraging and motivating creative and outstanding individuals working in the field, to promote the educational field in the country to higher levels. This goes to show that teaching is not a traditional job for educators, but a dynamic social process that engages all social segments aspiring to change for the best.

"The Award aims at creating a modern and developed educational environment that enrich the Emirati educational field with educational experiments, and encourage innovation, creativity and excellence.

She added that the participation of government agencies that do not work in the educational field reflects the State’s keenness to create a conscious generation capable of openness towards other cultures without losing its identity.

At the end of the visit, Lt. Colonel Dr. Hammoud Al Affari handed HE Amal Al Afifi a commemorative shield offered by the Law Respect Culture Bureau. He reiterated the Ministry of Interior’s endeavor to achieve excellence and to support all entities that work on forging the Emirati personality and honing their cultural basis. He stressed that "the police leadership adopts creativity”; therefore, educating a conscious generation is not limited to individuals working in the educational field; it involves all institutions that aim to achieve a comprehensive human progress in the state, which in turn impacts the stability and safety of society.
