According to statistics, traffic police have issued a total of 2494 traffic violations detected by radars on the internal and external roads in Abu Dhabi and its suburbs during the months of August and September. This measure is part of the traffic control strategy and the efforts to curtail all causes that lead to traffic accidents and their resulting deaths and serious injuries.
Captain Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Traffic Control Branch Manager at the Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate, indicated that the main violations detected include: failure to abide by the lane discipline; traffic markings and traffic instructions; taxis stopping in undesignated pickup areas; overtaking on the hard shoulder; and wrongful overtaking.
Al Qubaisi reiterated that traffic patrols have been intensified on inner and outer roads, urging motorists to adhere to traffic laws and the designated speed limits to ensure their safety. He called upon all motorists to cooperate to achieve the directorate’s coveted objectives, aimed at reducing the number of deaths and injuries caused by road accidents. This comes in line with the overall strategy to make roads in Abu Dhabi safer and upgrade safety levels, out of the abiding faith that "road safety is everyone's responsibility.”
"The Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police seeks no financial gains by issuing traffic violations. This measure aims solely to ensure people’s safety and to maintain public property, as evidence has shown that most traffic accidents occur as a result of a traffic violation,” he added.
Concluding, Captain Al Qubaisi advised traffic violators to improve their driving behavior and comply with the laws and regulations that were enacted for their safety.
