An integrated building for helicopters and management both complying with international-best standards

The Abu Dhabi Police inaugurated a new Air Wing project at the Al Bateen Executive Airport that includes a new management building consisting of two stories with a total area of 3,000 square meters. The project’s implementation period will extend to 14 months and work on the project commenced mid-April 2013. It is set to conclude in June 2014. In addition, the project includes the design and construction of an aircraft hangar.
During the inauguration ceremony, the foundation stone was laid in the presence of a number of officers and employees of the Air Wing Department and project engineers.
Brigadier Pilot Ali Muhammed Al Mazroui, Director of Air Wing Department, explained that the integrated building is constructed as per the best standards and qualifications; he noted that it includes employee offices, spare parts stores, and maintenance workshops ensuring the protection of aircraft as they would be in a hangar to protect them from sunlight. He mentioned that hangars allow engineers to make use of more working hours because the hangars provide a suitable working environment throughout the different seasons of the year.
Engineer Maher Khamis Talkhan, Project Manager at Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC), the entity entrusted to managing the implementation of the project, said that the total area of the hangar is approximately 7,700 square meters. He also stated that the hangar can fit 12 helicopters. He noted that the project includes a storing area and maintenance workshops, and is equipped with the necessary capabilities related to maintaining the helicopters of the Air Wing Department. It also has other safety and fire-fighting means that comply with international standards and the standards of the General Civil Aviation Authority.
