The Medical Services Department organized a one-week blood donation campaign in collaboration with the Ambulatory Blood Bank in Abu Dhabi. The blood donation campaign covered the Ministry of Interior and its affiliated directorate generals, the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, the Police College, and the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department. Furthermore, the campaign witnessed a significant turnout from officers, non-commissioned officers, and constables as well a number of female employees and civilians. Colonel Hussein Mahmoud Al Awadhi, Acting Director of the Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Interior, highlighted that the campaign embodies the Ministry of Interior’s strategy. It also underscores its commitment to serve community institutions, which stems from the ministry's social responsibility towards the community. For his part, Major Dr. Tariq Abdullah Al Junaibi, Director of Health Education at the Medical Services Department and supervisor of the campaign, highlighted that this annually-organized campaign aims to inculcate the culture of volunteerism, through raising awareness of the importance of donating blood and its role in saving the lives of the sick and wounded. The blood donation campaign also endeavors to meet the increasing needs of patients.
"Blood donation is a humanitarian gesture and a national duty reflecting the concept of solidarity between community members. The ministries, institutions, and governmental entities assume the important role of supporting community-based activities and events to establish close relations between different groups of society, develop a sense of patriotism and loyalty, and spread the culture of giving among society members,” added Al Junaibi.
Dr. Ahmed Imam, from the Abu Dhabi's Blood Bank Department, lauded the significant turnout and response from the officers, non-commissioned officers, and all the staff members of the Ministry of the Interior, as well as its various departments for donating blood, which shows their deep understanding of the importance of this humanitarian gesture.
