The Abu Dhabi Police’s Traffic and Patrols Directorate General represented by Al Ain Traffic Section, distributed awareness booklets as part of the Yellow Box awareness campaign, in public places and on main roads in Al Ain.
The team in charge of implementing the campaign also distributed booklets to motorists at traffic intersections that witness high density of traffic jams at all times. The booklets provide traffic regulations and instructions, and aim at acquainting motorists with the yellow box guidelines, so as to ensure a smooth traffic flow within the yellow box zone at intersections.
Major Salah Abdulalh Al Humairi, Chief of the Al Ain Traffic Section, noted that the campaign program aims at educating motorists with the need to abide by traffic regulations, namely, making way for vehicles coming from the opposite direction as long as the road is clear. It also aims to prevent traffic accidents and to maintain the general appearance of the road.
Concluding, Al Humairi warned motorists against stopping vehicles on the yellow box and entering the intersection randomly. "Stopping on yellow boxes poses great risk to vehicles crossing the road and causes serious traffic accidents,” he said.
