The Al Ain Group Security Committee Inspects the FIFA U-17 World Cup Sites

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Thursday, October 10th 2013

The Al Ain Group Security Committee for the FIFA U-17 World Cup, headed by Major Saeed Nasser Al Esa’ie, Chief of Special Tasks Section in Al Ain, inspected the stadiums, training halls, and accommodation places for athletes, supervisors, and managers. They also checked the different entrances and exits for sports fans expected to arrive to Al Ain during the first half of the month.

Major Saeed Nasser stressed that the Security Committee was briefed on the security preparations carried out by police teams to participate in the organization of the tournament. The Al Ain Group Security Committee’s responsibility was allocated to five sectors including: the Official Delegations and Accommodation Security Sector; the Stadium Security Sector; Traffic Security Sector; Ambulances, Rescue and Evacuation Sector; the Criminal Investigation Sector; and the Support Sector.

On the same note, Major Saeed Nasser noted that Al Ain Security Committee will secure the competitions, which will include Iraq, Mexico, Nigeria, and Sweden. The competitions will be held in the Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Stadium; the committee visited the stadium to determine the entrances and exits of fans, journalists, managers, and sports delegations agreed upon with the tournament organizing committees. Furthermore, the committee visited the accommodation and training halls.

Several entities are taking part in securing the tournament; namely, the sections for Special Tasks, the Traffic Patrols, the Criminal Investigation, the Operations, the Emergency and Public Safety, the Communications and Information Technology, Public Relations, Firearms and Explosives, and the Security Inspection (K9) along with the Women Police and the Air Wing Unit.
