The Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, represented by the Sports Section at the Strategy and Performance Development Department, organized the 2013 open Road Race Championship on Tuesday morning. The championship, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Sailing and Yacht Club, took place along the Abu Dhabi Corniche, with the participation of 700 staff members from Abu Dhabi Police GHQ and the Ministry of Interior.
Major General Staff Dr. Obeid Al Kutbi, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police took part in the championship, along with Major General Mohammed bin Al Awadhi Al Menhali, Director General of Police Operations at Abu Dhabi Police; Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations; and a number of high ranking officers, non-commissioned officers and constables.
The six-kilometer race started from the Abu Dhabi Corniche at the intersection with Airport Road and extended to the flag post inside the Abu Dhabi Sailing and Yacht Club.
The Western Region Police Directorate ranked first in the 2013 Open Road Race Championship; the Emergency and Public Safety Department placed second; and the Police Schools Department came in third.
In the individuals’ competitions, results were as follows: Khalifa Mohamed Al Nuaimi from the Special Security Forces finished the race in first place; Abdullah Al Lakiti from the Ports and Airports Security Department came in second place; Talal Ali from the Western Region Police Directorate ranked third; and Sultan Ali Ahmed from the Government and Diplomatic Facilities Protection Department ranked fourth.
Mohamed Hassani from the Western Region Police Directorate came in fifth place, Ahmed Darwich in sixth place, and Naif Hassan in seventh place. Ibrahim Ahmed from the Government and Diplomatic Facilities Protection Department ranked eighth, Ali Mohamed Al Dhanhani from the Guards and Special tasks Department ranked ninth, and Khaled Mosbeh from the Police Schools Department finished the race in tenth place.
Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police honored winners in the race, as well as the Police Schools and Emergency and Public Safety Departments for their cooperation to bring success to the 2013 Open Road Race Championship. He also honored the Abu Dhabi Sailing and Yacht Club, as well as the referees by distributing commemorative gifts.
