The Western Region Police Directorate, under the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, launched today the Pilgrims Service Initiative.
The initiative comes as part of the "Your Safety” campaign, launched by the Abu Dhabi Police in cooperation with the Security Media Department of the General Secretariat of His Highness Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, and within the efforts carried out by the Western Region Police Directorate to the public, especially for pilgrims travelling by road to the Al Ghuwaifat Port.
Colonel Ajil Ali Abdullah Al Junaibi, Director of the Western Region Police Directorate, said that the pilgrims services initiative launched every year by the Western Region Police Directorate comes as an embodiment of the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters strategy to increase public confidence in the police services and public safety, through providing its services to pilgrims. He pointed out that many police departments are involved in securing travelers, helping them reach the ports allotted for transit, providing them with assistance, and ensuring the smooth flow of the international roads.
He added: "A working team has been formed to provide the best services, in the area of jurisdiction, for the pilgrims using the land route and to provide them with the utmost safety means. They are coordinating with all police and health departments to ensure a smooth passage, ensuring readiness when necessary to intervene in a timely manner, whether from traffic authorities or to provide first aid.” He stressed on the importance of strengthening the relationship and cooperation with the public.
He stated that the Directorate has allocated an awareness point that provides information and requirements at the "Abu Al Abyad Petrol Station.” This resource may be needed by the road travelers; in addition, this location will also serve water and juice to the travelers.
The Directorate has also made available a mobile workshop, which helps the pilgrims and public passing through via Al Ghuwaifat port. This workshop achieves the objectives of the pilgrimage initiative implemented by the Directorate.
The two mobile workshops include an auto technician and an electrician, and provide services for all road users, through direct contact or through the operations number. It provides a range of light spare parts for breakdowns repair in addition to a bus to transport passengers whose cars have stalled.
