ADP Finalizes Preparations with Logistic and Humanitarian Services to Receive Pilgrims Across Border Points

The Abu Dhabi Police and concerned police entities have finalized preparations to receive pilgrims across road border points and airports. The Abu Dhabi International Airport and Al Ghuwaifatborder pointstarted to receive pilgrim fleets heading to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj rituals.

Brigadier Dr. Saif Bu Dhufaira Al Ameri, Director General of Security and Ports Affairs at the Abu Dhabi Police, stressed the efforts of the Abu Dhabi Police to provide organizational, logistic, and humanitarian services to the pilgrims. "The Abu Dhabi Police is committed to providing distinguished and fast services, providing a proper space to receive pilgrims and delivering humanitarian services helping them continue their journey to the Holy Land,” he said.

He added: "The Directorate General of Security and Ports Affairs, represented by the Ports and Airports Security Department, has carried out a number of prospective and collaborative communicationmeetings with concerned entities related to pilgrim travel to perform the Hajj rituals. Everyone had positive responses to working in a system with one goal: to provide services to the pilgrims and allow travel procedure to be carried out in few minutes.”

For his part, Colonel KhamisMusbah Al Marar, Head of Ports and Airports Security Departments, said: "The first pilgrims has already started to flock to the airport heading towards Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj. All security and civil sectors of the airport have finished preparations to fulfill the pilgrims’ needs on this holy event, and provide all means of comfort to help them continue their trip.”

"The internal entrance at Terminal 1 at the airport has been dedicated to receiving pilgrims, along with dedicated counters and check-in machines,” he explained.

Colonel Al Marar added: "The airport receives pilgrims coming from Asian countries, especially from East Asiafor transit heading towards Saudi Arabia. The Abu Dhabi Police, in cooperation with the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, is working to provide water, meals, and leaflets on Hajj in addition to translators to help answer any questions.”

He stated: "The Al Ghuwaifatborder point has already started to receive pilgrimsarriving by vehicles from different parts of the country, in addition to receiving pilgrims from East Asia and Oman. Passenger traffic has increased at the border point.

The border point is ready to receive pilgrims, in line with the plans of the Abu Dhabi Police to provide the best security, humanitarian and logistical services, in order to achieve excellence and satisfaction.”

He added: "We have collaboration with officials at Saudi Al Batha border point to guarantee that both sides will perform their duties with integration. We have also held a number of collaborative meetings with entities working at the border point. Each entity addressed its plan to provide distinguished services in a framework of cooperation and collaboration with other entities.”

For his part, Major Salim bin Tassah Al Ameri, Head of Border Point Police Station, said: "This year we are expecting to see up to 500 caravans of pilgrims crossing the border including 45 big buses and 15 small ones.”

He added: "The border point police have provided this phone number: 028082800, to communicate with travelers and answer their inquiries directly. We have also provided logistical services such as the mobile workshop to handle vehicle malfunctions, especially pilgrim buses and vehicles. There are also fully-equipped tents furnished with utilities at the border points, in order to provide comfort to pilgrims. The Traffic and Patrols Section at the Western Region has provided patrols at the border point and the main road, in addition to road signs to help organize the traffic. The border point passport section has doubled its staff and instateda substitute team, as well as increased the counters to deal with the increase in traffic and provide fast services.”

The Al Sila Police Station has prepared for emergencies and security cases, as civil defense teams have placed two fire trucks near the location of the tents. The Al Ghuwaifat Security Office is ready to provide immediate facilities to all entities working at the border point to obtain security permits. The Emergency and Safety Department and the Medical Services Department have provided an ambulance with a qualified staff, in addition to a medical bus equipped with beds.

All entities working at the border point work in harmony and carry out tasks with integration. The border point’s customs worked to provide employees and checking machines at the border point and inside tents. The General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments has established an awareness unit for pilgrims, with translators and guide booklets. The Red Crescent Authority provides water, dates,lunch, and supper. The Abu Dhabi Distribution Co. (ADDC) provides electricity to tents. The Center of Waste Management provides cleaning staff around-the-clock, along with garbage bins. The Environment and Social Services Department carries out land surveys at tent location, as well as road maintenance.
