The Tourism Police Section at the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ explored means to boost relations with 47 embassies and consulates in the State, with a view to promote tourist activities and attractions in Abu Dhabi, and offer the best security-oriented services to tourists. This coincides with the advent of the festivities season and the various tourist events organized by the UAE in general and Abu Dhabi in particular.
The embassies and diplomatic missions praised the efficient and vital role undertaken by the Tourism Police Section at Abu Dhabi Police. They also commended the establishment of the section, as well as the duties carried out by ADP to resolve any issues related to their nationals and to facilitate their tasks.
A delegation from the Tourism Police Section had recently visited a number of embassies and consulates in the State, as per the methodology aimed at strengthening the relationship with partners in the field of tourism, and to identify any potential obstacles in this area. The section also continues its endeavors to boost tourism-related relationship with a number of embassies and consulates in the UAE.
Major General Mohammed bin Al Awadhi Al Menhali, Director General of Police Operations at Abu Dhabi Police noted that the main pillar of the ADP strategy is to make Abu Dhabi a global destination in all aspects and fields, and maintain its prominent status as the flourishing capital of the UAE. "This effort requires boosting relations with the various relevant entities, to strengthen the emirate’s prominent status , as a pioneering and welcoming hub to the various activities and events, including tourism,” he said.
Major General Al Menhali added: "The Abu Dhabi Police seeks to enhance relations with relevant entities, in keeping with the distinguished renown that Abu Dhabi enjoys in the area of police work, to safeguard the interests of citizens, residents, tourists and visitors alike. It also exerts tireless efforts to make Abu Dhabi a prominent tourist landmark on the regional and international scene, and to promote its achievements and attractions, as one of the best tourist destinations locally and in the Gulf region.”
Concluding, Al Menhali indicated that the Abu Dhabi Police is a key and vital partner to the increasingly flourishing tourism sector particularly in Abu Dhabi. This is mainly due to the combined effect of several factors, notably the well-developed infrastructure and the diverse tourist attractions, which led to an increase in the numbers of foreign, gulf nationals and local tourists over the years.
For his part, Lieutenant Colonel Muzyad Al Utaibi, Chief of Tourism Police Section at the Criminal Investigation Department indicated that the field visits carried out by the section to competent authorities aim at identifying areas of mutual interest. They also focus on analyzing feedback from tourists visiting the emirate, in pursuance of the Abu Dhabi Police’s strategy to strengthen public trust in the police institution.
"By carrying out such visits, the Tourism Police Section seeks to acquaint all entities and parties with its duties in the service of the tourism sector. This philosophy stems out of the coveted objective to make Abu Dhabi an attractive destination for local and foreign tourists; and to spread a sense of security at the various tourist facilities,” stressed Lieutenant Colonel Al Utaibi.
"During the visits to embassies and consulates, the Tourism Police Section delegation distributed leaflets and a behavioral guidelines manual to acquaint tourists and residents with the laws, customs and traditions of the State,” explained Al Utaibi. He also indicated that the section provides awareness messages and newsletters through its website, as well as the appropriate links to enable the public to communicate with the Tourism Police Section via the e-mail address (www.hr.adpolice.gov.ae/tourismpolice) or via the Aman service on the toll free number: 800 2626.
Lieutenant Colonel Al Utaibi also gave an overview of the Tourism Police Section, noting that it has well trained and highly qualified staff members who underwent specialized training to deal professionally with tourists. "The section also employs human cadre who speak several languages, including (English, French, Chinese, Filipino, Urdu, Farsi and other languages), to provide advice and guidance to visitors and answer their inquiries while visiting the Emirate,” concluded Al Utaibi.
