The Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police called for motorists to commit to using seat belts via the traffic awareness programs for the month of August. These traffic awareness programs embody the strategy of the Ministry of Interior to provide traffic safety for community members. It also reiterates the Abu Dhabi Police’s commitment to strengthen traffic security and the safety of individuals through the implementation of a comprehensive traffic awareness plan to enhance society’s traffic culture level.

The Abu Dhabi Police rescued a Pakistani driver who suffered serious fractures in a two-truck collision. The accident occurred on Hamim Road in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

An Air Wing aircraft landed at the scene after receiving a call from the Operations Room. The aircraft was backed by ambulance and traffic patrols, which organized the traffic and contributed in helping the 37-year-old injured individual. The injured was rushed to Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Abu Dhabi for treatment.

Similarly, in the past two weeks, the Air Wing Department conducted four ambulance tasks, which resulted in rescuing and transferring four patients including two UAE nationals who sustained injuries in separate medical and traffic incidents. All incidents occurred in the Western Region of Abu Dhabi.

Dubai universities respond to increased demand for tourism and hospitality, engineering and accounting graduates

Dubai International Academic City (DIAC) has announced this week that its universities will be increasing the number of courses on offer by more than 10% for the 2013/14 Academic Year.

In direct response to industry demand, universities including Amity, Heriot Watt and IMT will add an additional 35 degrees in tourism and hospitality, engineering and accounting to their existing portfolio, bringing the total number of degrees to 355. Of the new courses, 11 will be undergraduate, 17 postgraduate and 7 PHD programmes*.
