8 People Saved in Separate Incidents in Abu Dhabi
ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Wednesday, July 24th 2013 [ME NewsWire]

The Air Wing Department of the Abu Dhabi Police carried out eight specialized ambulatory and operational tasks over six days in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The tasks resulted in the rescue and airlift of eight persons (both male and female), including three Emiratis, after being wounded in separate traffic and medical incidents.

The Air Wing Department reported handling eight calls that were transferred from the Operations Room. The department noted that five different traffic accidents occurred in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and the Western Region, which resulted in six people sustaining various injuries. Two Emiratis and an Arab woman were transferred to hospital.

Furthermore, the ambulance crews dealt with two other cases received from Al Ain. In one case, an Emirati sustained injuries following a fire. In the other case, a person was injured in an accidental electrocution incident. Both persons were rushed to hospital for further treatment.

The eighth case was an oil tank fire in Al Mussafah city that fortunately did not result in any casualties. The Air Wing Helicopter filmed the fire thermally from the air, with a view to transfer live images of the accident to the Operations Room.

The Air Wing Department carries out numerous air ambulance and rescue missions, in addition to conducting aerial photography, road monitoring, among other tasks.  It resorts to state-of-the-art equipment and machinery to rescue and provide first aid treatment to the injured.
