Encouraging Creativity in Contemporary Modern Methods

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Saturday, July 20th 2013 [ME NewsWire]

The Abu Dhabi Police GHQ launched a new website to disseminate the culture of excellence among staff members. This embodies the Ministry of Interior’s strategy and its philosophy based on achieving quality and excellence, and ensuring a continued excellence process, so as to enhance development of policing and security work.

The site, launched by Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations, provides a general overview of the Abu Dhabi Award for Excellence in Government Performance, and the main activities carried out by the Quality and Excellence teams. It encourages Abu Dhabi Police staff members to achieve creativity in all areas of work, and acquaint them with the best methods to achieve excellence.

The website also provides a registration service for the newsletter, which is the main tool to spread a culture of excellence in a modern way; and gives answers to frequently asked questions (FAQs) about excellence. Moreover, the website sheds light on debates between staff members on the best practices that enhance the process of excellence in police and security work.

Major General Al Raisi emphasized that excellence has become a main feature of the Ministry of Interior and the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ: "Achieving sustainability of the excellence feature is a major challenge that we can definitely face, thanks to the support of the higher leadership and its ongoing commitment to encourage excellence, and achieve the highest standards in the development process of the police sector in various fields,” he said.

He stressed the need to disseminate the best purposeful proposals, which aim to encourage excellence in the areas of government work, as a major part of our daily lives, in the framework of the government’s efforts for transformation into a smart government.

In turn, the Excellence Culture Spreading Team at the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ affirmed its commitment to adopt purposeful proposals aimed at motivating police staff members to achieve excellence in their work, as part of its Ramadan Council held under the title "Excellence Bites in Ramadan” at the Hilton Hotel Abu Dhabi. The Council was attended by Brigadier General Jassem Mohammed Al Marzouqui, Deputy Director General of Human Resources; Mr. Yasser Al Naqbi, Director of the Abu Dhabi Award for Excellence in Government Performance; Colonel Thani Butti Al Shamesi, Head of the Training Department and Excellence Culture Team Leader; Colonel Saif Al Shamesi, Head of the Cultural and Social Activities at the Clubs and Sports Activities Department, along with a number of senior officers and civilians.

Brigadier General Jassem Mohammed Al Marzouqui, Deputy Director General of Human Resources at the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, indicated that the "Excellence Bites in Ramadan” Council is an initiative that promotes a culture of excellence. "This initiative provides highlights in the field of excellence, and reflects the police leadership’s attention and commitment to encourage and support the excellence process,” he continued.

Al Marzouqui added that spreading the culture of excellence is a key challenge for organizations. For this end, the various councils organized by the Excellence Culture Spreading Team, with the participation of experts and consultants in the field of excellence, aim to send a message to all the Abu Dhabi Police staff members that "Our goal is to achieve excellence”.

For his part, Colonel Thani Butti Al Shamesi, Head of the Training Department and Excellence Culture Team Leader at Abu Dhabi Police, indicated that an outstanding institution is one that achieves and maintains high levels of performance; and meets and exceeds the needs and expectations of its customers. It is also an institution based on the values and vision of the founder, and on the commitment of all employees to abide by these values.

He emphasized that the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ regards excellence as an approach that all of its staff members need to adhere to, with a view to improve institutional performance, and develop the skills of its members. Moreover, he pointed out that the standards of the Abu Dhabi Award for Excellence in Government Performance were meant to assess the extent to which institutions have adopted these best practices, in order to achieve higher levels of performance.

The "Excellence Bites in Ramadan” Council had tackled in its previous session three working papers. The first working paper, titled "The E-Gate”, was presented by Major Mohammed Al Zaabi, Project Manager of the "E-Ports” Project at the Ministry of Interior.  Al Zaabi pointed out that the project is one of the most important projects conducted by the MoI, to facilitate the arrivals and departures of all travelers, through modern and sophisticated e-gates that implement the iris recognition and face recognition biometrics to complete travel procedures in less than 12 seconds. "This project is a unique and leading experience registered for the United Arab Emirates as the first country in the world to implement it,” he said.  The first working paper concluded with a participation of poet Tariq Al Ali, Customs and Traditions Specialist at the Al Mafraq Juvenile Care Center, who recited a popular poem on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.

The second working paper presented at the Council was titled "Traffic and Patrols and Health Education”, presented by Lt. Moreover, Al Jallad highlighted the vision and strategic objectives, and their importance in helping institutions move forward towards excellence. This is achieved through proper planning and sound design of operations; as well as a conscious leadership that instructs and supervises through planning, implementation and continuous follow-up.
