"Productive families" Exhibition Allows Women to Market their Products

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Wednesday, July 10th 2013 [ME NewsWire]

The "Productive Families” Exhibition, organized by the UAE Women Police Association in Al Shahama area, provides the opportunity to market items made by productive women across the UAE. The exhibition witnessed a significant turnout from citizens and residents of all age groups, who enjoyed the various products sold directly to consumers at reduced and preferential rates, compared to similar products sold at the local markets.

The exhibition allows women to showcase their creativity and find the appropriate opportunity to market the diverse and high quality traditional products made by Emirati women from their home, including handicrafts, clothes, perfume, incense, sweets and fabric painting, etc…

The exhibition also included products made by families supported by the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Humanitarian Foundation, through the "Emirati Families Support” initiative in all areas at the countrywide level.

Mohammed Haji Al Khouri, Director General of the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Humanitarian Foundation indicated that the Foundation provides Emirati families with the opportunity to participate in exhibitions to market their products and identify marketing opportunities at the countrywide level through the "Emirati Families Support” initiative. He also expressed his thanks and appreciation to the UAE Women Police Association for its collaboration in organizing this exhibition to market products made by women from their home.

For his part, Mohammed Mattar Al Shamesi, Director of the Enterprise Development & Support Department at the Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development, indicated that the Fund is participating in the exhibition with a team of four Emirati citizens from different areas across the state, showcasing their various products.

"The exhibition is a significant opportunity for productive enterprises to acquaint a wide range of consumers with their products and enter the market. This would reflect positively on enterprises’ performance and viability, and on enterprise-owners’ income, to enable them to improve their living standard,” Al Shamesi continued.

In the same context, Major Amina Mohamed Khamis Al Baloushi, Chairperson of the UAE Women Police Association, indicated that the exhibition enhances creativity and improves family production. It also encourages women to market their products and improve their quality, to meet the needs of consumers; reiterating the Association’s commitment to assist women in developing their abilities and acquaint them with the proper ways and methods of marketing their products.

She added that the Association aims through the exhibition, to motivate Emirati women to self-employment; teach them how to manage home-based small ventures; market their products and gain the necessary experience. "The Association also aims to guarantee women’s participation in the various products exhibitions held throughout the year across the Emirates, for the great opportunities they provide for productive families to market their items and create new innovative and distinguished products,” she added.

Al Baloushi revealed the Association’s intention to implement programs to qualify women wishing to learn a "craft"; acquaint them with the means and methods of production, marketing, and encourage them to participate in exhibitions to promote their products. She emphasized the Association’s keenness to provide the necessary support and facilities to allow Productive Families to market their products and encourage them to create further high quality and competitive items.

 She pointed out that the exhibition comes in line with the Association’s vision to generate productive women and spread the concept of productivity among families. It is also in keeping with the public and private sectors’ initiatives to motivate women to achieve further creativity and innovation; produce high quality goods, to be sold directly to individuals through exhibitions and public events, and to get acquainted with the various opportunities provided by entities that support family products.

For their part, participating women from the various Emirates indicated that the exhibitions and events organized by the UAE Women Police Association are a significant opportunity to allow women to provide high quality homemade products to meet consumers’ requirements at affordable prices; acquaint community members with these products; expand marketing possibilities; spread the culture of home-based productions; and transform innovations into diverse production projects.
