The Ports Security Institute at the Ports and Airports Security Department at Abu Dhabi Police celebrated the graduation of 47 participants from three one-week courses. The courses included: Detection and Security Inspection using computer-based training simulation (CBT); Public Communication Skills; and a course for airport security supervisors.
The manager of the Training Branch at the Ports and Airports Security Police Department, Lt. Colonel Naima Salem Awad, indicated that organizing the training courses embodies the Abu Dhabi Police’s strategy to enhance the country’s security and safety by developing the skills and competencies of its police and security cadre as per international-best standards.
"Since its establishment, the institute has worked to achieve the goals of the Abu Dhabi Police’s vision to maintain Abu Dhabi as a secure and safe society. This vision aims to provide high-quality police services to citizens and residents both inside and outside the Emirate. The development of these courses is an effort to cope with accelerating developments across all police sectors and improve the performance of the police members in different departments,” she added.
Lt. Colonel Awad continued: "A total of 47 members graduated including three from Egypt and one Lebanese. They all followed three specialized courses. Eighteen members were introduced to inspection methods using computer-based training simulation and 18 were trained on communication skills with public members at airports and other related locations. Eleven participants studied ways to interact with public members based on their different character types.”
In the presence of a number of officers and officials at the department, Lt. Colonel Awad handed certificates to the graduates. She urged them to further efforts to maintain what they have learned and implement their knowledge on the ground.
